Salon de la Jena

I’ve never been a girl for boring nails. I’ve had fun nails for as long as I can remember and that reoccurring trend has followed me throughout my adult life as well.

You can follow my nail designs on IG with #SalonDeLaJena but I wanted to highlight a few of my favorites here today!

Salon nails:

Back in October, I went to the W Nail Bar for a birthday mani/pedi. This was the first time I’d had my nails done in a salon in years so it was a fun treat for me. My nail tech crushed my design and it’s one of my favorites to date.

At Home Dip Nails:

I love at home dip nails, don’t get me wrong, but let me tell you– IT’S A PROCESS. I use the Revel dip nail kits (get your own dip nail kit at a discount HERE) and I love it. My spare bathroom cabinet is basically a nail salon, filled top to bottom with dip nail powders. And after 3 years of steady practice, I’ve gotten pretty good at designs and can basically do anything I want on my nails. Here are some of my favorite designs that I’ve done.

Press on nails:

I go back and forth between dip and press on nails and right now, I’m super into press ons. They don’t take much time to apply and, with a few tips and tricks, they last for over a week– sometimes two. With press ons, I’ll do one of two things. I’ll either buy the most extreme designs I can find OR if I’m feeling extra artistic, I’ll buy just a simple nude or french tip and paint designs myself.

These first few were all hand painted by me. I just lay them out on a piece of tape and design away, let them dry overnight then apply as usual the next day.

And these next few were just purchased and applied as is.

Do you do your own nails at home or go to the salon? Acrylic, dip, gel or just polish? What’s your go to?
