How in the world is my baby already ONE?
It feels like just yesterday, I was here writing out her birth story. I can’t believe how quickly this year has flown by. She has such a little personality and loves to explore. She’s my baby for sure, a mama’s girl through and through.
“I’ll love you forever. I’ll like you for always. As long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be.”
When I first started planning her birthday I had no idea what I wanted to do as far as theme. Now her Cinco De Mayo, taco TWO-sday party has been planned from the moment I found out she would be an early May baby…but I was still so unsure of her 1st. I did some Pinterest searching and saw one picture of a beehive cake and I knew right then we’d be doing a BEE-day party.
The party was at 2:30 so we had some light snacks instead of a full meal. We served a variety of fruit and dip, chips, pretzels, spinach dip, cookies, Honey Nut Cheerios, Teddy Grahams, lemonade and of course cupcakes.
So, David and I used to own a photo booth company. We had the booth at Monroe’s 1st and 2nd birthday parties. The guests would take photos and put them in a scrapbook to sign for her. Even though we sold our company and booth, I knew I still wanted that aspect at K’s BEE-day party. I improvised and grab some extra polaroid film and a scrapbook. The guests took pictures with baby K and signed the scrapbook just as we’d done in the past. It worked perfectly and I love having those first birthday memories of K with all of our friends.
We got the backyard all finished just in time for the party so guests had the option of going outside and for the kids? We had The Bee Movie playing in the basement.
I’ll be the first to tell you, decorating is NOT my specialty. I grabbed some black and yellow tissue paper decorations and my mom brought the cutest floral bouquet for the front of the highchair. Simple, but it got the job done.
We had the best time celebrating Mikaela and her first year of life. We couldn’t have asked for a better year with our baby and can’t wait to see what the future has in store for her! We love you Mikaela Jade!
