I have been getting a lot of questions recently about my skincare routine, so I thought today I’d compile it all into one post for y’all. I’ve done a few lives in my beauty group on this, so if you’d like to see it first hand then get in there, gorgeous! Click HERE to join.
In high school, I had really bad break outs, like reallllllly bad. I tried so many different skincare routines to help fight my acne and nothing helped. I was so self conscious about my skin and that feeling never really went away until about a year ago. While my skincare didn’t really change, my skin cleared up after high school. All through college I had the occasional break out but nothing too terrible. I quit caring about skincare, nothing had worked in the past so why keep trying? Instead of attempting to treat the problem areas when they happened, I would just do my best to cover it with makeup. Before bed, I would use a makeup removing wipe and call it a night. My skin wasn’t getting worse but it wasn’t getting better either.
Let’s fast forward a few years and a little company called Maskcara Beauty came into my life. In August of 2017, Maskcara launched their first skincare line called Tres Leches. It’s a three step process; cleanse, tone, moisturize that instead of stripping away at your acidic mantle as most over the counter systems do, maintains that protective layer of your skin.
If you’re interested, here’s some additional information about “why Milk?” and the Tres Leches line.
The day I started using Tres Leches, back in August 2017, immediately I noticed a difference. I had some minor break outs that completely disappeared the next morning after using the system. I was sold. Since first using it, I’ve modified my routine to fit my skin and that’s what I want to share with you today. If you want to give Tres Leches a try, click HERE. There’s a 30 day money back guarantee so you have nothing to lose and clear glowing skin to gain.
My nightly routine:
Every night I take off my makeup using a microfiber cloth. Recently I’ve been using this “Cleansing Puff,” a luxurious microfiber puff that my friends created and I am obsessed. It’s black so it doesn’t stain and it’s so soft. If you didn’t know, microfiber can remove all of your makeup, and the dirt and impurities off of your face with just water. Once my makeup is removed, I use one full dropper of my Milk cleanser and rub it in. This cleanser doesn’t foam up or lather, it feels more like a silky lotion which I love. After it’s all rubbed in, I rinse my face with warm water and wipe it down once more with my microfiber cleansing puff. I let my face dry then use one pump of Milk moisturizer. THIS STUFF IS GOLD. It is so rich and makes my face feel amazing. If you’re on the market for a new moisturizer, Milk is the way to go. It’s pricy at around $50, but lasts me anywhere from 4-5 months with nightly use and some daily use here and there.
My weekly routine:
Once a week, I go a little more in-depth with my skincare routine. After I wipe away my makeup and before I cleanse, I shave my face. Yep, you read that right…I shave my face. I’ve been doing this for almost 2 years now and I don’t have a thick black beard yet, so you can just toss that myth out of your head. I’ve been using Tinkle razor‘s until just recently, and now I use an electric trimmer. Shaving my face gets all the dead skin and peach fuzz off my face leaving me with the perfect canvas for my makeup for the week. After I shave, I use my cleanser and this time, before going in with my moisturizer I’ll tone. I spray my Milk toner onto a cotton square and rub it into my face letting it dry before, finally, moisturizing.
This skincare routine has done wonders for my skin and my makeup application. I rarely have breakouts and my skin tone has never been this even in my entire life. I’m not sure that I’ll ever add or take something away from this routine. For the fist time in my life, I’m comfortable not wearing any makeup both around my house AND out in public.
I hope this answered some of your questions about skincare and if you don’t have a routine that you love, I hope you’ll give Tres Leches a try!
How long does the system last?
I have been using my current Tres Leches system going on 5 months now; I still have probably 2 weeks left of Moisturizer and half a bottle of cleanser left. Since I only use my Toner once a week, it’s still about 3/4 the way full.
