January Ipsy Review

When I first started Ipsy, I was extremely pleased. I liked the majority of the products that came in my bags and I really felt like they were pretty customized to me. Recently, I’m lucky if I like one product in my bag and unfortunately January is no exception. I’m going to give them one more chance in February but will most likely cancel after next months bag. So here’s what I got and my thoughts…

Loose Pigment in the shade Sneaky

First of all, I’m not the biggest fan of loose pigment to begin with. It gets everywhere and I would much prefer pressed powder eyeshadows. Second, this purple color is not me at all. I’m typically more of a neutral eye kind of girl and even when I branch out into wilder shades, purple is not my go to. This is honestly a product I probably won’t ever use.

Exfoliating Cleanser

While I love a good exfoliator, Ipsy sends me a new one every single month. Let’s be real, no one needs 10 different brands of exfoliator samples. This one specifically is very similar to the one I got last month too. All natural, made with brown sugar, almonds, oats, etc. I do like it, but its basically just a duplicate product from last month.

Caviar CC Cream

Another thing I’m always receiving in my Ipsy bags, cream leave in conditioners. They may be great for some people, but personally I don’t use them; I prefer spray leave in conditioners. This one, however, came strongly recommended by a friend so I thought I’d give it a go. First of all, it smells really good and it made my hair feel so soft! I also felt like it really helped tame the frizz I get once my hair dries. While this may not be a product I’d purchase and use regularly, it is one I’d recommend if you’re looking for a good cream leave in conditioner.

Mary-Lou Manizer

Y’all, lets be real…Ipsy must have a surplus of these The Balm eyeshadow singles because I swear I get one every single month. If they only knew how many eyeshadow palettes I have they would realize I don’t need any more. Worst of all, this eyeshadow didn’t have much pigment at all. I have very similar colors in other brands with way more pigment and shine. None of The Balm eyeshadows have really impressed me much and it’s not a brand I would recommend.

Velvet Liquid Lipstick in DF

This matte lipstick was this month’s stand out product for me and it’s full sized! It is, however, extremely drying on my lips and chapstick under really compromised the wear, only lasting me a few hours. I do love the color though, a dark dusty rose. While I may not recommend this matte lipstick, I will get great wear out of it.

So, overall this months bag was a bust. I did redeem my last few rewards points for some extra goodies in next months bag and then I’ll most likely cancel.
