I’ve been coloring my hair for as long as I can remember! In fact, I distinctly remember asking my mom for blonde highlights (and a hamster) for my 10th birthday! My best friend from college used to laugh at how many times I would change my hair each month! I just got bored with my look so easily and after all, it’s just hair! It will always grow back or can be colored again! Here are some of my hair colors through the years:
I did a blonde balayage almost 2 years ago now and no matter how hard I try or what stylist I go to, I cannot seem get the brassy yellow out of my hair. I long for the day that I can have the perfect blonde balayage, but until I find the right person here in NOVA, I just have to deal with the brass! I use purple shampoo and try and tone it once a month but nothing lasts for more than a week. Recently, I’ve jus had enough! I needed the brass gone and have been pondering something different for the upcoming fall months anyway! A friend had told me about this new semi-permanent hair color by L’Oréal so when I was walking through the grocery store and saw it for only $10, I knew it was now or never! I posted a picture in my beauty group on Facebook asking my friends and followers what they thought and almost everyone enthusiastically said DO IT! Again, it’s just hair.
First of all let me say, this was the easiest at home hair color I’ve ever done! There was no mixing necessary. Just squeeze the solution out of the tube into your hand, onto your hair, and let it sit for 30 minutes. It’s as simple as that and I even have enough left in the tube for a touch up! After the 30 minutes was up, I showered and shampooed as I usually would! Box color’s usually dry my hair out pretty badly so I made sure to condition my hair too, letting it sit a bit longer than usual before washing it out.
The result? I LOVE IT!!!!! The brassy yellow turned into the most beautiful rose gold, perfect for fall! I’ve trained my hair and only wash it once a week so I suspect the color will last a longer than the box predicts, but I’ll keep you updated!
